With no godfather in the film industry, Amrita Rao, the demure actress made her acting debut with ‘Ab Ke Baras’ in 2002, which earned her a nomination for ‘Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut’.
She has stolen hearts with her performance in super hit movies like Ishq Vishk, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Masti’,‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’,‘Welcome To Sajjanpur’, ‘Satyagraha’,‘Jolly LLB’ and ‘Thackeray’ amongst several others.
Legendary painter M.F. Hussain declared Amrita Rao his muse and made a series of paintings inspired by her role in ‘Vivah’.
She has also won ‘The Stardust Best Actress Award’ for her performance in ‘Welcome To Sajjanpur’ and was also awarded the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female, for her portrayal of a college student in the romantic drama ‘Ishq Vishk’.
She has also bagged the prestigious ‘Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award’ and ‘Phalke Excellence Award’ for her performance as Meena Tai Thackeray in the biopic ‘Thackeray’.
She has been voted ‘Times of India’s 50 Most Beautiful Faces’ and has also won ‘The 50 Most Influential Women Of Maharashtra 2017’ at the ‘ERTC Herald Global Awards’.
Amrita and her husband Anmol Sood launched their book ‘Couple of Things’ in 2023 and they also own a YouTube channel with the same name.
